Our department has been approved to receive accreditation until the year 2025 as a result of the evaluation carried out by the "Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs" (MÜDEK).
MÜDEK is both a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) and the Washington Accord. Thanks to this, our diplomas are directly recognized by all member countries in Europe, as well as by other countries worldwide such as the United States (ABET), Canada, Japan, and others.
What is Accreditation?
Accreditation is the process where organizations performing testing, analysis, inspection, and certification of a product or service to demonstrate its compliance with market demands, standards, and regulations (Conformity Assessment Bodies) are audited by an official authority according to international criteria, and their technical and administrative competencies are approved and periodically reviewed.
In short,
Accreditation is the certification that a product or service meets a specific quality standard.
What is MÜDEK?
Introduction
The Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) is a non-governmental organization operating to contribute to the improvement of engineering education quality in Turkey by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and information activities for engineering programs in various disciplines.
MÜDEK was founded in 2002 by the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), composed of deans of engineering faculties in Turkey and Northern Cyprus, as an independent civil society platform called the Engineering Evaluation Board to organize and implement a detailed program for evaluating undergraduate engineering programs in these faculties.
Purpose
MÜDEK's goal is to contribute to raising the quality of engineering education in Turkey by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and information activities for engineering programs in different disciplines, thus ensuring the education of better-trained and more qualified engineers who understand current and emerging technologies and contribute to the advancement of society's welfare.
National Recognition
MÜDEK's application to the Higher Education Council on October 31, 2007, was reviewed and approved at the General Assembly meeting held on November 16, 2007. According to Article 7/e of the relevant regulation, MÜDEK was recognized as a national quality assurance organization focusing on national, sectoral, and program qualifications for engineering programs at higher education institutions, with the authority to issue Quality Evaluation Certificates valid for five years.
International Membership and Authorization
Since November 17, 2006, MÜDEK has been a full member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE). By decision of the ENAEE Administrative Council on January 21, 2009, MÜDEK was authorized to award the EUR-ACE label. Since June 15, 2011, MÜDEK has been a signatory member of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) Washington Accord.
What is MÜDEK Accreditation?
MÜDEK Accreditation is an international educational equivalency/certification granted to engineering programs that meet the criteria defined by MÜDEK.
What is EUR-ACE?
EUR-ACE is a set of standards for accrediting engineering education programs. Engineering programs that meet these educational standards are awarded the EUR-ACE label.
In 2009, MÜDEK was authorized by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education to award the EUR-ACE label to accredited engineering programs. MÜDEK is the seventh agency authorized for this in Europe.
Benefits of the EUR-ACE Label for Engineering Students and Graduates
- Engineering programs with the EUR-ACE® label certify that they meet both European and international high standards, ensuring recognition by European employers.
- EUR-ACE® facilitates applications to Master's and Doctorate programs at other higher education institutions.
- In countries where engineering is regulated, EUR-ACE® labeled programs meet the education requirements to become Registered or Chartered Engineers.
- The EU Directive encourages the mobility of graduates from EUR-ACE® labeled programs at the postgraduate level through recognition of professional qualifications.
- EUR-ACE® is an education standard promoted by FEANI (European Federation of National Engineering Associations) as a professional card.
- Programs with the EUR-ACE® label are automatically included in FEANI’s Eur Ing education requirement lists.
