LABORATORIES AND RESEARCH
The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Marmara University commenced its educational and research activities in 1997 with a small but highly qualified academic staff. Over the years, the department has grown rapidly, attracting talented young researchers from abroad and quickly attaining international recognition. In recent years, significant and efficient efforts have been made to establish well-equipped research and educational laboratories. As a result, the department has successfully secured prestigious national and international research projects. In addition to working on traditional topics of materials science, our faculty members conduct research on contemporary and advanced materials. Consequently, laboratories required for the development of high-tech materials have been established.
The Materials Laboratories Unit consists of three main divisions:
Materials Processing Laboratory
Materials Characterization Laboratory
Materials Mechanical Testing Laboratory
These laboratories are equipped with modern devices and systems. The composition, microstructure, and properties of produced materials are analyzed using advanced instrumentation available in the characterization and mechanical testing laboratories.
Materials Processing Laboratory
This laboratory hosts the necessary units for physical and chemical processing involved in the production of advanced ceramics, metals, and polymers. It also includes equipment for post-production processing and shaping.
